Morning Rituals
The day begins early for Emily. It starts with a morning check, where the she goes out to observe each alpaca, checking their health and well-being. She look for any signs of distress or sickness, and make sure all are accounted for. Then, the feeding process begins. Alpacas are typically fed a diet of grass and hay, supplemented with grains and minerals. Fresh water is also a must. This daily routine is vital to maintain the alpacas' health and happiness.
Daily Duties
Throughout the day, there are a myriad of tasks to be completed. These include the cleaning of barns and maintaining fences. Keeping the environment clean and safe is crucial to prevent diseases. You really do not know what the day may bring so Emily has to keep on her toes and see where the day may take her, especially when we have expectant mothers!
Evening Wind-Down
As the sun sets, Emily does another health check, ensuring every alpaca is comfortable and content. The day ends with a quick clean-up and making sure they have enough water to get through the night. It's a long day, but the love and care for these creatures make it all worthwhile.
